Bobby Grant must put team first warns Fleetwood boss Pressley

Pressley brought off the former Seasiders striker in the 60th minute and sent Ash Hunter on, but when Grant stormed off the pitch he appeared to snub his manager, who said he “disrespected” staff on the bench.

And Pressley says Grant needs to understand that it is not all about him – what matters is that Fleetwood Town beat the drop.

With two games left, Fleetwood are two points above the relegation zone and Pressley says he will not tolerate that sort of behaviour, insisting action will be taken if it happens again.

The Town boss said: “I was not happy with his reaction. I was not happy that he disrespected a couple of members of staff on the bench.

“Just to make it clear – this is not the Bobby Grant show. This is about Fleetwood Town Football Club.

“He was told after the game in the dressing room that this behaviour will not be tolerated and, if it happens again, action will be taken.”

The former Scotland defender also highlighted that top scorer Grant’s conversion rate of chances in the last six matches has not been good enough.

In the six games since the former Accrington player returned to the starting line-up after serving a three-match ban for violent conduct in the defeat at Burton Albion, he has had approximately 21 efforts on goal, hit the woodwork three times and has only one goal to show for it.

That goal was a spectacular effort in the 2-2 draw at Southend that sailed into the top corner.

And Pressley says he decided to bring off both Grant and Stefan Scougall on the hour and put on strikers Ash Hunter and David Ball to introduce some fresh legs to try to force a winner in Saturday’s derby.

He said: “I made the substitution to introduce new players.

“Bobby has to understand that in the last six or so games his conversion rate has not been good enough after the chances he’s had.”
