Blackpool's players will use their headsets

Manager Gary Bowyer hopes the use of the latest technology, which involves wearing headsets to use software linked to game situations and training scenarios, will help them climb the table.

Pool currently find themselves in 18th place in League One, just two points off the drop zone.

Bowyer said: “It’s something different and it’s a bit of fun. It just breaks up the training. But the actual product is a wonderful product.

“I met a lad on my university course and when I saw it, it grabbed me straight away. So I went to his offices to see it further.

“It enhances the training, it enhances the recovery from injury so it keeps you alive and stimulated.

“I can’t speak highly enough of it. It’s going to be coming into this market very, very soon.

“For our analysis of games we’ll normally bring the players into the office and watch back the games. But with this headset, it enables you to go into the game situation so you can visually see what the player is seeing at that time.

“From a coaching point of view, that’s massive. It’s alright watching games back and saying ‘this is what you should have done’. But now as a coach you can get a better understanding of what the player was seeing at the time.

“We’re trying it out at the moment and they’re getting some data from it which means the players are having a bit of competition with it.

“That’s good for motivation amongst the squad. It’s a really great tool.”
