Blackpool's Delfouneso on player of month shortlist

Blackpool's Nathan Delfouneso has been nominated for the League One player of the month award for April.

He started April with his first ever professional hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Bradford City. Delfouneso’s goals helped Blackpool pick up 13 points from six games in April.

The 27-year-old is joined on the shortlist by Wigan Athletic striker Will Grigg, Scunthorpe United defender Rory McArdle and Oldham Athletic forward Duckens Nazon.

Blackpool’s Gary Bowyer was overlooked for the manager of the month award despite the Seasiders standing third in the League One form table for April, behind promoted Wigan and Blackburn.

Pool’s only defeat last month came on Easter Monday against Oldham, after which a four-game winning streak saw them score 13 goals and concede just one.

Neal Ardley of AFC Wimbledon and Nick Daws of Scunthorpe join Wigan’s Paul Cook and Blackburn’s Tony Mowbray on the manager of the month shortlist.

The winners will be announced on Friday.
