Blackpool must end league goal drought says Terry McPhillips
Defensively the Seasiders look solid but it is at the other end of the pitch where the problem lies.
McPhillips said: “We need to score some goals. If you don’t score, you don’t win.

“What can we do? Well, we’ll have to play better and we’ll have to believe in each other a bit more.
“If you go back to Tuesday night in the cup game, we played superbly in the second half. We created lots of chances against Barnsley and we didn’t quite manage that at Shrewsbury.”
McPhillips, who is expecting to remain in temporary charge for this week’s double header at Bloomfield Road, will now turn his attention to tonight’s game against Coventry City.

McPhillips added: “We’ll get back to work and we have two home games now, so we’ll look after some of the lads who have played a lot and there will be some new faces on Tuesday.
“What do I know about Coventry? I know they won on Saturday (1-0 against Plymouth). We had someone at the game, so we’ll get that report back. But we are at home and the performance, particularly in the second half, last Tuesday night was different class.
“We did score goals. I know it wasn’t a league game but it was a competitive game against a top team.

“I didn’t feel the need to put one of the other strikers on.
“There was a temptation – of course there was because they’re good players and they had a good pre-season.
“I just felt if anyone was going to score at the end it was going to be us.

“I’m really pleased with the effort and commitment and we got a lot better in the second half, as we always seem to do.”
