The midfielder’s strike in the 5-0 demolition of Scunthorpe was his first since joining the club in September.

The 34-year-old has been an almost ever-present and says Saturday’s win was just what the doctor ordered.

Norris said: “It’s a big scoreline for us and nice to do it at home. It was an emphatic victory and one we really needed.

“I don’t know where it came from to be honest. I don’t know why it’s taken us so long to do it. I think we have it in our locker, though.

“In patches of games we produce, but we haven’t really scored when we’ve needed to.

“A lot of times this season we’ve missed big chances when we needed to take them. On Saturday we took them well.”

Blackpool got off to the perfect start on a wintry afternoon, when Tom Aldred’s second-minute strike saw the confidence breeze through the team, something Norris feels is usually the case when they score first.

He said: “When we score early we tend to do really well and get something out of the game. We did that on Saturday and our finishing was clinical.”

Norris marked a perfect afternoon with his goal 10 minutes into the second half, reacting well after efforts from Jim McAlister and Jack Redshaw had been blocked on the line.

“They are the ones I want – the tap-ins,” he joked. “There were a few ricochets but it was nice to see it fall to my feet.

“It’s my first goal for Blackpool, so I really enjoyed that.”

The defeat piled pressure on Scunthorpe boss Mark Robins, who blasted: “Abject, poor, angry, disappointed and disappointed – those are words I’d associate with that performance.

“It was really, really poor and I don’t think there’s anything positive I can take out of it.

“Credit to Blackpool, but they will be the easiest five goals they ever score.

“From the second minute onwards it was very disappointing. It was one of the poorest performances I’ve ever seen.”
