Blackpool 3-1 Peterborough United: Jerry Yates bags brace as Seasiders climb int...

The striker netted twice last night to take his goals tally to 16 for the season as the Seasiders emerged deserved 3-1 winners at Bloomfield Road, Luke Garbutt scoring the other goal.

The result leaves Blackpool in sixth with games in hand still to play, but they now switch their focus to Saturday’s home game against Plymouth Argyle where they’ll be looking to build on their impressive 10-game unbeaten run.

“It’s a massive three points,” Yates said of last night’s win.

“We knew what was at stake before the game, so the lads grafted and put the hard work in and got the three points.

“It was great to get off to such a good start - I think it was actually my first of the season from outside the box! I was buzzing for it to go in.

“I could do with scoring a few more headers, but it’s nice to get the service from the lads and I can only thank them for doing that.

Peterborough are a good side going forward, so we knew what to expect and it was a great finish from their lad for their goal.

“But we came out for the second-half with our heads held high and we reacted well.

“We’re on a good run of form at the moment and that’s massive for us. We’re going into games thinking we can play our stuff and win every game.

“We’re not really scared going into any game, so it’s a nice feeling at the moment.

“We’ve had a few frustrating draws at home in recent weeks, so it was nice to put that right and put in such a good performance.”
