The Seasiders had an opportunity to finish in the play-offs on the final day of the regular season, but their 3-2 defeat away to Reading meant they couldn’t take advantage of results elsewhere going in their favour.
Neil Critchley’s return to the club didn’t deliver the immediate return to the Championship many were hoping for, with inconsistency on the road being a major issue.

Hide AdBlackpool were solid at Bloomfield Road, and held the fourth best home record in the league, but just couldn’t replicate that on their travels.
A new style of play was introduced with mixed results. For every strong performance like the 4-0 victory over Portsmouth at Fratton Park, there was a defeat like the 2-0 loss to Cheltenham Town to match it.
