Blackpool make Leyton Orient defender their second signing of the summer

That’s according to Robins boss and former Seasider Richie Wellens, who has revealed Swindon will be tabling their own offer in the next 48 hours.

However, Wellens admits Swindon’s bid is unlikely to match the one Rotherham have already received.

This has sparked speculation that the bid already tabled has come from Blackpool, who are known to be keen on the 23-year-old frontman.

“Rotherham have received a bid from another club,” he told BBC Radio Wiltshire.

“We will put a bid in over the next couple of days but the only problem is that it won’t be as much as the other club has offered. It will be a little bit away from it.

“We will see if we can develop that in the next couple of weeks and then the decision will come down to Jerry.”

Yates, who is also a reported target for Sunderland, scored 14 goals for Swindon last season during a season-long loan spell.

Rotherham recently triggered a clause in the forward’s contract to extend his deal by 12 months, ensuring they will receive a fee for his services should he depart this summer.

Millers boss Paul Warne today confirmed a bid had been tabled for the striker but also failed to reveal the identity of the club in question.
