'There was not a lot right today': Burton Albion boss Jake Buxton gives his verd...

Jerry Yates’ double helped the Seasiders pick up a much-needed 2-1 win against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday.

The result was Blackpool’s first away win since September 17, 2019, a run of 410 days and 21 games without claiming three points.

“Someone told me that stat the other day but obviously I only joined in March and then we had six months of lockdown, so it’s not actually 13 months,” Critchley said.

“But that was still the message to the players: at some point we need to go away from home and, whether it’s pretty football and we win 3-0 or whether we have to grind out a 2-1 or a 1-0, we’ve done that and we’ve found a way of winning a game of football.

“That’s a nice feeling to be in a dressing room away from home having picked up three points.

“We need to build on that against Wigan on Tuesday night at home. I believe we can build on it.

“Some of our results haven’t gone our way this season and I feel we should be much higher in the table and should have more points than we’ve got.

“Now it’s up to us to go and prove that and we’ve got to back this win up on Tuesday night. We’ve got to go on a run and get used to winning games.

“We’re not quite used to losing games, but it’s not been a great feeling on a consistent basis so far this season and it’s up to us to change that.

“I’ve got a lot of belief in this group of players because they listen to the messages, they give everything they’ve got and they’re good people.

“We’ve got a chance with this group.”
