Salford City v Blackpool

Key Events

  • FT: Salford City 0-1 Blackpool
  • Seasiders in action for fourth and penultimate occasion in pre-season
  • Kick-off pushed back to 8pm due to soaring temperatures

Luke Bolton is given too much space by Luke Garbutt, allowing the Salford man to get a shot off at goal, but thankfully it’s straight at Chris Maxwell who collects.

Seasiders almost punished as Owen Dale is caught in possession right on the edge of Blackpool's 18-yard box.

Thankfully Callum Hendry dallies too long on the ball and Pool are able to clear.

Lewis Fiorini denied a first Blackpool goal by the feet of the Tom King after being played through by Jerry Yates.

Blackpool counter at pace from Salford’s second corner in quick succession, as Owen Dale picks out Jerry Yates with a smart lofted ball. Yates attempts a through-ball to Shayne Lavery but it’s intercepted by a Salford defender.

Beryly Lubala is then set free down the left but he can only lift the over the keeper and wide.

Stevie Mallan’s free-kick is a good one but it’s just a bit too low, resulting in the ball taking a nick off the wall and going behind for a Salford corner.

Doug Tharme is penalised for a foul on Brandon Thomas-Asante on the edge of the Blackpool box. Stevie Mallan to take the free-kick in a good shooting position.

First corner of the game goes Blackpool’s way. The visitors have shown good intent early on here.

Doug Tharme rattles the bar from Luke Garbutt's free-kick, but the linesman's flag is up for offside.

Salford get tonight’s get underway.

Good to see a healthy number of Blackpool fans making the trip to Greater Manchester. Good effort given the scorching heat today.
