Revealed: When Blackpool could play their remaining nine fixtures under new FA plans

We take a look at the plan reportedly being considered by the FA, and what it could mean for Blackpool.

What are the FA’s plans?

According to the Telegraph, the FA are looking to resume the 2019/20 season during the first week of June and are targeting a completion date of July 11.

There is the possibility that some of the final games of the current season could be played behind closed doors in order to ensure fixtures are completed.

How many fixtures do Blackpool have left in 2019/20?

They have nine fixtures left to play this season.

Eight of nine have already been postponed, Coventry City's visit on May 3 also likely to be suspended.

Here’s a full list of the fixtures that will likely need to be rearranged: Sunderland (H), Shrewsbury (A), Peterborough United (A), Burton (H), Rochdale (H), Portsmouth (A), Coventry (H), MK Dons (A) and Doncaster Rovers (H).

When could these fixtures be played?.

Given the parameters the FA are reportedly considering, it’s likely that fixtures would be played on the following dates should this suggested plan be implemented:

- Saturday June 6

- Saturday June 13

- Saturday June 20

- Saturday June 27

- Saturday July 4

- Saturday July 11

Naturally, though, there will need to be games played in midweek in order to ensure all fixtures are completed. The following midweek windows would be available:

- June 9/10

- June 16/17

- June 23/24

- June 30/ July 1

- July 7/8

Blackpool, therefore, are likely to play on at least TWO of these midweek dates in order to fulfil all of their remaining fixtures.

Of course, there is no guarantee this plan will be the one pursued by the FA.

Will the fixtures definitely be played?

EFL chair Rick Parry said: “We are committed to finish the season on the pitch. We want promotion and relegation. We don't want an artificial end to the season.”
