Portsmouth defender shares first words following Blackpool loan switch as head coach praises 'asset'

Jordan Williams has become Blackpool’s fourth signing of the summer.

Jordan Williams states Blackpool’s style of play made his Tangerine switch a ‘no-brainer.’

The 26-year-old has made the move to Bloomfield Road on a season-long loan from Portsmouth to boost the Seasiders’ defensive options.

Following Dion Charles, Ilmari Niskanen and Karoy Anderson, he becomes the fourth addition to Ian Evatt’s squad this summer ahead of the start of the 2026/27 campaign away to Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup on August 8.

Williams has experience of enjoying success in League One, having been promoted with Barnsley back in 2019, and will be looking to replicate that on the Fylde Coast.

Discussing his move to Blackpool, the right back told the club’s in-house media: “I’m delighted to be here. After speaking to the manager on how he wants to play, it was a no-brainer for me.

“His style of play will suit me, and I can’t wait to get going in a tangerine shirt.”

Head coach Evatt believes Williams’ skillset will make him a perfect fit to his plans as he looks to put a firm stamp on things.

“We are delighted to have added Jordan to our ranks, providing further quality to our back line ahead of the 2026/27 season,” the Blackpool boss stated.

“His versatility and experience will be a huge asset to us and I can’t wait to start working with him as we continue to build towards our opener against Grimsby Town.”
