Howe’s only appearances for Blackpool this season have come in the EFL Trophy, the right-back featuring against both Barrow and Leeds United’s Under-21s.

A January 2020 signing from Reading, Howe has been frozen out under Neil Critchley ever since an appalling display for Blackpool’s reserves in a 4-0 Central League defeat to Huddersfield Town’s youngsters.

The full-back had previously been brought in under former manager Simon Grayson following two impressive performances for the Royals against Blackpool in the FA Cup.

Howe’s contract runs out in the summer of 2022.

His new club Scunthorpe sit in 16th place in League Two.

Howe's departure comes after both MJ Williams and Calum Macdonald sealed permanent moves earlier today.
