Blackpool boss Neil Critchley wary of football's new normal without crowds

Gabriel was brought in on loan from Nottingham Forest at the start of the season but Turton has been Blackpool’s first choice by and large.

The 28-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions, while Gabriel has managed 12, with half of those coming in cup competitions.

Turton told The Gazette: “Jordan is a great lad. He’s a really good player as well.

“I think it’s great for both of us to have that competition to push ourselves.

“It’s part of football to have that competition and whoever the manager picks, I’m sure we’ll both do a great job for the team.

“The best thing for me is to have that competition to push myself because you never want to feel comfortable.

“Whoever the manager picks, it’s his decision and we’ll back each other up.”

As for tomorrow’s test at Accrington, Turton added: “We’re really looking forward to it. We’re in a good run of form but so are they, so it should be a good game.

“We just want to keep our run going. It’s going to be a tough challenge but it’s one we’re ready for.”
