Steve Bruce will start work as Blackpool head coach later this week.

The 63-year-old has taken over at Bloomfield Road on a two-year deal, and is joined on the Fylde Coast by long-term assistant Steve Agnew.

Meanwhile, former Seasiders players, and interim head coaches, Stephen Dobbie and Richard Keogh are also part of his coaching team.

“Steve (Agnew) is a very good coach who has been with me a few times now, he’ll be an unbelievable help on the training ground,” Bruce told Blackpool’s club media.

“Stephen Dobbie is also going to join the backroom staff, and so is Richard Keogh - they are the young ones I’m looking forward to.

“Hopefully they can learn a little bit from myself and Steve. It sounds like a very good team, which is important.

“They’re young and enthusiastic - I’ve always wanted to give young ones some help. It’s the start of their coaching careers. They’ve been big players for this club, and I’m sure they’ll do a grand job for us.”
