Blackpool 2-1 Barrow: Seasiders maintain winning start to pre-season with victor...

The striker was missing from Blackpool’s squad for today’s pre-season friendly against Barrow, which the Seasiders edged 2-1 thanks to goals from Jordan Thorniley and Matty Virtue.

The 23-year-old suffered a knee injury during Saturday’s friendly against Port Vale, going down in pain just minutes after being introduced as a second-half substitute.

While Critchley believes the knock isn’t thought to be serious, the club are unlikely to know the full extent until he has a scan.

“He got his foot caught in the grass in the game on Saturday and his weight went over on his knee a little bit,” he told The Gazette.

“He might be going for a scan on Wednesday and then we’ll wait for the results of that.

“It doesn’t look too serious, but until you have a scan you can never be 100 per cent sure.”

While James Husband and Jamie Devitt returned from knocks to feature against Barrow, Calum Macdonald joined Nuttall on the sidelines.

Explaining the defender’s absence, Critchley added: “From Saturday, he didn’t particularly feel he was right physically so we have to keep an eye on him.

“We’re not taking any chances on any of our players at the moment, but hopefully in the next 24 to 48 hours we can see some players joining the squad which will make a difference.”

Ben Garrity was also missing, but The Gazette understands the midfielder is likely to be heading out on loan.
