Madine was brought off with a stiff neck at the start of the second half in Saturday's goalless draw against Fleetwood Town.

He was replaced by Joe Nuttall just a minute in to the second period.

Turton, meanwhile, will also be given as long as possible after being left out at Highbury through illness.

On the duo, Critchley said: “Unfortunately Gary had to come off just after half time on Saturday, so he’s still being assessed although he’s better than he was.

“We’ve still got 24 hours between now and kick-off so fingers crossed he might make it.

“Ollie Turton was ill on Saturday but he’s made progress as well, so with 24 hours still to go we’re hopeful those two can still play some part in the game.”

Jak Alnwick (arm) and Sullay Kaikai (groin/abductor) remain sidelined with longer term injuries.
