Matt Scrafton's player ratings: Defenders on top as organised and well-drilled Blackpool seal huge three points against Portsmouth

Jerry Yates struck eight minutes from time to hand Blackpool a huge 1-0 win against high-flying Portsmouth at Fratton Park yesterday.

Here's how Pool's players rated:

1. Chris Maxwell - 6/10

Made a couple of rash decisions early on but looked solid for the remainder of the game to keep another clean sheet.

Continued his impressive recent form. Covered every blade of grass and had the beating of Pompey’s winger.

Solid display on his first start in over a month. Kept John Marquis quiet for the majority of the game.

Excelled at centre-back once again. Leads by example and produced a vital block early on to deny Pompey a certain goal.

Had Ronan Curtis in his back pocket thanks to some tough tackling. Came close with a free-kick early on.

Shielded the back four well but didn’t do enough to show for the ball. Needs to find pockets of space.
