The midfielder struck midway through the second-half, sweeping home after Jerry Yates had cleverly dummied CJ Hamilton’s pullback from the right.

While the scoreline might make it look like it was a tight affair, the Seasiders were in control throughout against a side that were previously unbeaten away from home in League One.

“The boys are happy to get back to winning ways in the league after last week’s defeat at Doncaster. We wanted to put it right,” Anderson said.

“It was a good all-round performance, we played well throughout the whole 90 minutes. We were pretty much in control of the whole game, got the goal and held on until the last whistle.

“Big Gaz (Gary Madine) came on and did his job well by holding the ball up. The wingers CJ (Hamiton) and Sullay (Kaikai) backed him up as well and the midfield three were brilliant in breaking up the play.

“The defence was solid throughout, so it was a good all-round performance really.”

The impressive display deserved an impressive goal to match, and Blackpool got one with Anderson’s emphatic finish.

It followed a flowing move from back to front, ending with Anderson netting his second goal in tangerine - but his first in the league.

“I think it was a second ball we won, Ethan (Robson) has threaded the ball through to CJ and he’s used his pace as he always does to get down the line,” Anderson explains.

“He pulls the ball back and Jerry was very intricate in dummying it to let me get onto it. Although I did tell him if he didn’t leave it I was ready to bite his head off!

“But it’s always nice to score and help the team to victory.

“With the injury I’ve just had to bide my time to get back into the side and the gaffer threw me back in after the FA Cup game on Saturday.

“I’m glad I’ve got the goal.”
