Keshi Anderson: Blackpool can match anyone in this league

The Seasiders claimed a last-gasp 3-2 home win against the Tigers on Tuesday thanks to CJ Hamilton’s stoppage-time goal.

Having also seen off Peterborough United and Portsmouth, Neil Critchley’s side have beaten all of the current top three in recent weeks and Anderson said: “Hull are a good outfit, so it was a good challenge for us.

“The boys stuck together and dug deep to come from behind in the first half. Even when they made it 2-2 late on, we were at home so we wanted to grab the winner. I think we can match any team in this league, so it was great to win against the team who are top.”

Blackpool were pegged back by Reece Burke’s header in the 89th minute only for Hamilton to win it in the 93rd and Anderson added: “When there are four minutes added on, in my mind it’s about keeping the ball and creating one last chance.

“We got the ball into the box, Garbs (Luke Garbutt) recycled it back into a good area and we’ve worked the ball well to get the shot off.”

Anderson had scored Blackpool’s second goal after quick thinking from goalkeeper Chris Maxwell. He launched a long ball up to substitute Gary Madine, who allowed it to drop for Anderson to fire home.

“It was a good kick from Maxi for once,” Anderson joked. “Normally it would have been a nice flick from Gaz but Maxi takes the assist on this occasion. Luckily it’s skipped into my path. I’ve put it across the keeper and tucked it away.”

The win leaves Blackpool four points outside the play-offs with a game in hand on several sides around them.

“Every game there’s pressure to win,” said Anderson, “because we have a strong squad and go into every game expecting to come away with three points. We back ourselves as players, and the manager backs us and expects us to deliver.”

“There’s a lot of competition throughout the team, so we’ve got to stay on top of our training and stay on top of our performances.

“And hopefully when you do play, you do the best for the team.”
