Critchley 'bewildered' by referee's decisions at Doncaster

The 25-year-old was one of 17 new arrivals this summer, moving for an undisclosed fee from Mansfield Town.

The winger has been a regular starter with the Seasiders and scored his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat at Doncaster, where Hamilton's strike put Pool 2-0 up only for the hosts to hit back in the second half

“Since I’ve joined, I’ve loved it. Everyone has made me feel welcome,” Hamilton said before the Doncaster game.

“There are a lot of new boys here but everyone is on the same wavelength. It’s a good age group and everyone gets on well, which you can see in the games.

“I’m really enjoying myself at the moment. Everyone has been confident from the start of the season. Obviously results didn’t go our way early on but now we’re finding our way and getting used to each other.

“It gives you more confidence the more games you win in a row" - Pool had won five in succession before their setback at the Keepmoat.

“It’s the best feeling when you pick up a victory. You put all that work on the training ground into practice on game day and it comes off.

“The performances were there at the start of the season – some of the games we lost we shouldn’t have lost.

“We’re working better as a unit, we’re gelling together.”

Hamilton scored three goals in his first four league games and was in scintillating form at Peterborough United on Saturday, going close with a 25-yard effort before providing the assist for Gary Madine’s last-minute winner.

“I’m just happy to contribute any way I can in games, that’s my aim. Goals, assists, whatever, I just want to help the team,” Hamilton said.

“We’ve got more link-up play now, so we can play off both Jerry (Yates) and Gary. They hold the ball up well which allows us to run in behind.

“There’s more options in the box as well now, there’s two big strikers, one pulls off and one is at the back stick, so it gives you more options as a wide man.

“I don’t mind playing in any system, I’m just happy to be playing at the moment but I know that can change at any moment.

“That’s what the gaffer is trying to build, a squad where every player can play their own part in different games.

“Certain players will be more suitable to certain games and that’s what having a squad is all about, having that flexibility and being able to change it up when people are tired.”
