Neil Critchley: Easter wins so timely for Blackpool side full of confidence

It comes after the striker continued his hot streak of form with a brace in Blackpool s 4-1 win against Gillingham on Easter Monday.

The 24-year-old, who now has six goals in his last four games, has bagged 20 for the season, becoming the first Blackpool player to hit that target since Andy Morrell in the 2006/07 promotion-winning campaign.

Yates' displays earned the praise of Wellens, who coached the forward at Swindon Town last year, where he scored 14 goals in 36 games to help the Robins secure promotion from League Two.

Speaking on Quest's highlights show, Wellens said: "I love Jerry to bits, absolutely love him to bits.

"He's good at everything. He's got decent pace, he can hold the ball up.

"You see (for his first goal), it's a one-vs-one and it's a confident finish. Then he gets across the defender (for his second), doesn't try to get too much pace on it and just guide it towards the net.
