The duo will not be returning to the club once the A-League season restarts next month, it has been confirmed.

Fowler and Grant, who spent a short spell with Pool last season as Terry McPhillips' number two, returned home to England in March when the campaign was suspended due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Brisbane, who are captained by ex-Blackpool defender Tom Aldred, have since confirmed they will not be returning due to the "ongoing coronavirus situation."

“We are disappointed that the global pandemic has impacted our plans together but completely understand that family comes first during these difficult times,” vice-chairman Chris Fong said.

“Robbie has not only provided stability but a refreshing injection of knowledge and insight into the Roar.”

Fowler has recently been linked to the vacancy at Championship side Birmingham City.

The former England and Liverpool striker led the club, which had finished second bottom the previous season, to fourth place before matches were suspended with six rounds of the regular season and the championship play-offs remaining.

“On behalf of myself and Tony, I would like to thank the club for the opportunity and the Brisbane Roar fans for the warm welcome and support for me and the team. We are very proud of what we achieved,” Fowler said.

The Roar have four regular season fixtures remaining in the 2019-20 campaign, which is due to resume on July 16.
