The 31-year-old was stretchered off after just six minutes during FGR's 1-0 defeat to Ian Evatt's Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

It followed an accidental collision with another ex-Seasider in MJ Williams, who moved permanently to Bolton during the January transfer window.

The horror injury left the Jamaican striker reeling away in agony before hitting the deck, looking at his hand in disbelief.

His fingers appeared to be completely bent and in a seriously bad way as the physio rushed onto the field of play.

FGR boss Mark Cooper revealed his striker will require surgery.

"He’s sustained a significant hand injury that’s going to require some work surgically," Cooper said.

"So let’s see how that goes first before we speculate on what’s going to happen."

Matt, who played for Blackpool between 2016 and 2018, has scored 16 goals this season.

The former Newport County man took to social media this morning to post an update, accompanied by a picture from his hospital bed.

"Gutted about the injury yesterday and not being able to help the boys out on the pitch," he wrote on Twitter.
