The board will consider three different situations currently facing the Championship, League One and League Two.

League One is the most contentious issue, with the 23 clubs failing to agree a way forward following the most recent talks.

Championship clubs remain keen to play on while League Two was ended early last week following a vote.

In League One, there remains no clear consensus - with clubs split over how the season should be completed.

There is a small group of clubs in the promotion mix that want to see the season completed behind closed doors.

However, there are a number of other clubs - believed to be in the majority - that want to see the campaign ended early due to financial concerns.

It was recently revealed that clubs would have to fork out £140,000 to test their players for coronavirus and, with no income from gate receipts, there's a real concern that some clubs might go under.

While the EFL's board meets today, it's understood the clubs could take part in a key vote towards the back end of the week.

While clubs in League Two have found a way forward, there are still hurdles to climb.

Clubs voted to scrap relegation this season, but this was just an indicative vote and for the proposal to become a reality would require a regulation change.

The proposal would also require sanctioning by the FA and the EFL.

As for teams in the Championship, coronavirus testing will be carried out on Thursday and Friday with results being shared on Sunday.

This is with a view of returning to training on Bank Holiday Monday.
