Cheltenham v Blackpool FA Youth Cup - live updates

Key Events

  • FT: Cheltenham 1-3 Blackpool
  • Young Seasiders bidding to reach last 16 of the FA Youth Cup

The game is temporarily stopped to allow the Cheltenham keeper to receive some treatment, but he’s fine to continue.

Cheltenham’s Brandon Liggett, meanwhile, picks up a booking for a foul on Jack Moore.

Cheltenham so close to levelling for a second time this evening as Adulai Sambu’s 20-yard piledriver is superbly tipped behind by Alex McLachlan.

The keeper then saves a header from the resulting corner.

21 - GOAL BLACKPOOL! (1-2)

Dannen Francis restores Blackpool’s lead with a low drilled finish after a cross had been partially cleared to the winger.

It had been coming.

Johnny Johnston shows excellent persistence to somehow force his way past a couple of challenges down the right, only to see his cross blocked.

Pool still pressing to restore their lead.

Blackpool look to be getting on top here.

Tayt Trusty has just dragged a shot wide of goal via the aid of a deflection.

Dannen Francis pounces on a poor pass before twisting and turn past his man, but he can only shoot wide of the near post. Good trickery in the build-up though.

13 - Contrast in styles

It’s been a lively start in terms of goals but not a lot else has really happened. Both sides are still struggling to keep hold of possession for too long, although the Seasiders look a lot more willing to keep the ball on the deck and play from back to front.

8 - GOAL CHELTENHAM (1-1)

Blackpool’s lead didn’t last for long.

The home side are back on level terms as number two Joe Hunt inadvertently lobs keeper Alex McLachlan with what appeared to be a cross.

Unfortunate way to concede for the young Seasiders.

4 - GOAL BLACKPOOL! (0-1)

A dream start for the Seasiders as they score with their first chance of the game.

Jake Daniels meets Dannen Francis’ floated cross to poke home.

It’s been a tentative start from both sides. A bit scrappy at the moment with neither team able to get their foot on the ball and keep possession.
