Chelsea v Blackpool FA Youth Cup - live updates

Key Events

  • FT: Chelsea 3-2 Blackpool
  • Seasiders take on Premier League giants in quarter-final of FA Youth Cup
  • Winner to face Blackburn Rovers or Nottingham Forest in the last four
  • Tie kicks off at earlier time of 6pm

42 - GOAL CHELSEA (2-1)

That’s so unlucky for Alec McLachlan. He makes two super hero saves to deny Malik Mothersille, but the Chelsea man forces it over the line at the third attempt.

That’s a great save at his near post from Alec McLachlan to tip Charlie Webster’s low shot around the post.

Tayt Trusty is booked for a handball. The midfielder looked to pick up the ball after being shoved to the ground, but the referee disagreed.

Jack Moore curls in an excellent cross from the right which Jake Daniels gets a head to, but it’s comfortably wide.

That’s better from Pool, who have been under the cosh for a while.

Let off for Blackpool as Silko Thomas fires wide from point blank range.

Pool a bit lucky there.

Luke Mariette recovers to clear a dangerous cross from the right, but only serves to whack the ball into a teammate. It could go anywhere, but thankfully it’s behind for a corner.

Blackpool are still competing well here, in fact they’re still having some joy. There’s nothing to choose between the two sides, despite the apparent gulf in quality.

14 - GOAL CHELSEA (1-1)

A sublime goal out of nothing draws the home side level. Skipper Harvey Vale drops his shoulder before curling a beauty into the top corner.

Dannen Francis causes the Chelsea left-back all sorts of problems once again, dancing his way into the box before seeing his cross blocked.

The Seasiders are the better side here.
