Garrity reunites with Critchley at Bloomfield Road, having worked alongside him during his time with Liverpool’s academy.

The 40-year-old, who officially starts work on July 1, admits he’s ‘excited’ by the Blackpool project.

“Having a conversation with the board, when they were outlining their vision and I was listening to how they want to move the club forward, it excited me,” he said.

“It really got me pondering what we can do here with Neil at the helm.

“I’m really confident we can take this club forward and get it where it should be.

“I’m very excited, it’s something I’m very much looking forward to.

“It’s good to get back to some sort of normality with everything that has happened and get back into the football environment.

“I worked with Neil for many years at Liverpool so we both know each other very well. I’m looking forward to working with him again.

“I’m also looking forward to getting to know David (Dunn) when I meet him too.”

A highly qualified coach, Garrity has recently been working with Norwegian outfit Molde and for the Chinese Football Association; experiences he’s gained hugely from.

“I learned a hell of a lot from working abroad. I learned a lot about myself because I’m someone that likes to be challenged,” Garrity added.

“When I went abroad I learned about my own strengths and weaknesses, but to also experience the cultures of Norway and China was a massive eye-opener to see how they do football in that part of the world. It was a fantastic experience.”
