Blackpool's Jerry Yates beats Hull City, Sunderland and Charlton men to win fans' League One player of the month award

The 24-year-old found the back of the net on four occasions in March, taking his goals tally for the season to 17 in all competitions.

Yates opened his account with the winner in Blackpool’s 1-0 victory at MK Dons at the start of the month.

The striker then netted a brace in Blackpool’s 3-1 win against Peterborough United, before scoring from the spot in the 2-2 draw against Plymouth Argyle at the weekend.

Yates won 38 per cent of the public vote, beating AFC Wimbledon defender Will Nightingale into second place (34 per cent).

Matt Ingram (Hull City), Luke O’Nien (Sunderland), Sammie Szmodics (Peterborough United) and Conor Washington (Charlton Athletic) were also nominated.
