Blackpool loanee Jordan Rhodes believes his future is in the hands of others as he addressed the subject of a potential Huddersfield recall in January.

An early return to the John Smith’s Stadium has been touted in recent weeks following the striker’s form in front of goal.

The 33-year-old has bagged eight goals in 10 games for Neil Critchley’s side to date - placing him joint-second in the League One scoring charts behind Barnsley’s Devante Cole and helping the Seasiders stay in touch with the early race for promotion.

In his absence, the Terriers sit 18th in the Championship table with just 13 goals from their 12 games played to date. Meanwhile, Huddersfield’s joint-top scorers are defender Michal Heilik and midfielder Jack Rudoni with three apiece

There’s been increasing talk that Darren Moore could recall Rhodes early from his season-long spell at Bloomfield Road in a bid to improve his side’s second tier survival chances.

The former Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn forward was asked about that by BBC Radio Lancashire ahead of Blackpool’s game against Cheltenham tonight.

Rhodes admitted that was a decision for someone else as he looked to just concentrate on his form.

That type of response might frustrate Seasiders fans, who will no doubt want the striker to stay for the remainder of the season.

But while Rhodes remained non-committal on the matter, the goalscorer did admit he was enjoying his time under Critchley.

He said: ‘I think that’s something that’s probably out of my hands at this moment in time.

‘Whatever happens to develop between now and whenever that point may be, that’s for conversations to happen.

‘I’m just keeping my head down, concentrating on my football and whatever happens, whoever it’s for, that’s for other people to decide, not me.’

He added: ‘I’m just really enjoying my time here. It’s a really good bunch of lads, both on and off the field, a really talented bunch and a squad that can really mix it with the best in League One.

‘Really good human beings of the field, which always helps coming into an environment, and the manager and the coaching staff have been really encouraging and spot on - just exactly what I needed at a time in my career when I needed it.’

Rhodes, who has amassed £27m in transfer fees during his career, has scored 235 goals in 599 appearances for 10 different clubs since he made his debut for Ipswich in 2007.

When asked if he could still play at a higher level than League One, he answered: ‘I’d like to think so. I think, over a few years, and going back to my time at Blackburn, I like to think I did that.

‘But, you know, times are different. You adapt and you just try to do the best that you can.

‘Sat here as a 33-year-old, I know that there’s probably not too many years left in me, so I’m just trying to do my best, enjoy it.

‘I’m in the latter part of my career now and it’s all about enjoying it and doing what I can before it’s all over.’
