There’s now a lot more focus on academy matters at Blackpool under the ownership of Simon Sadler, who has placed a priority on bringing through the next young stars.

It also helps that first-team head coach Neil Critchley also has a wealth of knowledge in academy matters thanks to his previous roles at Crewe and Liverpool.

Another person who has a wealth of knowledge of the academy is Ciaran Donnelly, who is tasked with overseeing the club’s youth teams.

The Gazette caught up with Ciaran earlier this week to discuss tonight’s game and the academy’s progress - you can read it here.

Under the guidance of Pool favourite John Murphy, the Under-19s are enjoying a strong season.

The young Seasiders sit fourth in the Youth Alliance North West table with games in hand.

They’re also through to the semi-final of the Lancashire Cup, where they will play Burnley, while a Youth Alliance Cup quarter final tie against Rochdale is also on the horizon.

The winners of tonight’s tie will face Cheltenham Town in the next round after they saw off Rugby Town 4-0 last night.

And welcome to tonight’s live blog.
