Blackpool striker Jerry Yates up for monthly award alongside Hull City, Sunderland and Charlton men
Blackpool’s top goalscorer Jerry Yates has been shortlisted for the Football League World’s (FLW) Fans' Player of the Month Awards.
The 24-year-old found the back of the net on four occasions in March, taking his goals tally for the season to 17 in all competitions.
Yates opened his account with the winner in Blackpool’s 1-0 victory at MK Dons at the start of the month.
He then netted a brace in Blackpool’s 3-1 win against Peterborough United, before scoring from the spot in the 2-2 draw against Plymouth Argyle at the weekend.
Yates faces competition from Hull City goalkeeper Matt Ingram, defenders Luke O’Nien (Sunderland) and Will Nightingale (AFC Wimbledon) and forwards Sammie Szmodics (Peterborough United) and Conor Washington (Charlton Athletic).
Ingram helped keep Hull on top of the pile, keeping three clean sheets and conceding just three times.
O'Nien impressed out of position for Sunderland, the 25-year-old filling in at centre-back as the Black Cats kept five clean sheets.
Nightingale played a leading role for Wimbledon under Mark Robinson, as the Dons lost just once and picked up eight points in their bid to stave off relegation.
Szmodics grabbed three goals and two assists for Posh, while Washington found the back of the net on four occasions for Charlton.
The winner will be decided by a public vote, which remains live until 9am on Wednesday, March 31.
