The 30-year-old was at the double on Sunday to help the Seasiders on their way to a 3-0 FA Cup first round win against Eastbourne Borough.

Strike partner Jerry Yates completed the scoring in stoppage time to seal a comfortable victory against their National League South opponents.

Madine, who has three goals in 11 appearances this season, squandered another couple of chances to find the back of the net.

“These are the tough ones, they’re the games where you’re expected (to win) so it’s really a lose-lose situation,” Madine said of Sunday’s FA Cup victory.

“But the lads put on a professional performance and we probably ought to have put the game to bed earlier on.

“We didn’t and that could have made us a bit nervous, but we were very good and saw out the remainder of the game pretty well.

“I’m delighted with the goals but I’m still missing too many chances. I’ve got to think about the positives, I’m still getting in the positions to miss those chances, so I’m sure they’ll come.

“Once you get one they’re like London buses aren’t they? Hopefully they’ll all come at once.

“If you look back at the chances I’ve had this season, I’m missing a very good chance in every game whereas on another day they all go in. Hopefully they start to go in more often than not.

“It is frustrating, but as long as I keep getting in the right positions I’m sure it’ll come.”

While Blackpool probably ought to have made life more comfortable for themselves, Eastbourne still gave a good account in their first outing against League opposition for 15 years.

“I thought Eastbourne were very good, so hats off to them,” Madine added.

“We knew they would be tough and would be in our faces and they didn’t disappoint.

“They were very good, so I went into their dressing room at the end to wish them all the best for the rest of the season and I’m sure they’ll do well.”
