Matt Scrafton's verdict: A match which summer up Blackpool's season so far

The 26-year-old completed his two-match suspension when Blackpool faced Wimbledon last night following his red card in last week’s defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Husband was dismissed after just 58 seconds, having brought Omar Bogle to the ground as he surged through on goal.

It was the defender’s second red card of the season, after being given his marching orders in the 3-2 loss to Lincoln City this month.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's defeat by AFC Wimbledon in London, where Blackpool were on the receiving end of two more red cards, Williams said: “We all love Hubby, he’s a tough lad. I’ve only been here for a few weeks now but he’s really helped me settle in. I’ll always be here to give him support.

“It’s been two tough ones for him. Their lad is through on goal, and if it’s in the 90th minute and he’s brought him down it’s a different story. Because it’s so early on it’s a tough one for him.

“All of the lads are all around him and I’m sure when he’s back it won’t happen again.”

Husband’s early dismissal against the Addicks left the Seasiders right up against it with so much time left.

Williams added: “It is hard. Hubby is a great lad and he’s a massive part of our team. We wanted to give everything out there for him because it’s a tough one.

“When you see that card coming out after just one minute, it’s the worst feeling because you know you’ve got 89 minutes left or even longer with added time to play with 10 men.

“It helped their man (Ben Purrington) got sent off as well but it is a horrible feeling.

“The lads stuck together. We got through it until half-time and in the second half we really fancied our chances to go on and win the game, but they took their chance.

“As soon as we start taking our chances, we’ll be right up there.”

Williams, a summer arrival from Rochdale, has impressed since replacing the injured Keshi Anderson.

The 24-year-old is enjoying his football on the Fylde coast and wants to help Pool climb the league table.

“It’s a massive club and I knew that before coming here. It was one of the main reasons why I came here,” Williams said.

“I wanted to be at a big club, which this is. The fans deserve for us to be right up there because they believe the club belongs in the Championship and maybe even the Premier League.

“I remember, as a kid, watching Blackpool play in the Premier League and they had a great fanbase.

“We just want to make the fans proud and really get back up there.

“Without them in the stadium it’s hard, we had the fans for the Swindon game and it was a great boost for the lads.

“I’m sure when we can get the fans back in, it’ll be even better for us.”
