Blackpool players omitted from EFL's League One team of the season as Sunderland, Hull City and Peterborough United men dominate

No Blackpool players have been included in the EFL's League One team of the season.

Instead, the team has been dominated by players representing Sunderland Hull City and Peterborough.

Sunderland have the most players included with four, starting with Lee Burge in goal.

That's despite Blackpool's number one Chris Maxwell keeping the most clean sheets in the third tier this season with 19.

Elsewhere, Burge's Sunderland teammates Luke O'Nien, Aiden McGeady and Charlie Wyke are also represented.

Peterborough have three players, in Mark Beevers, Joe Ward and the league's top scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Hull, who are already promoted and look set to clinch the title, are represented by Callum Elder and George Honeyman.

Grant McCann, the manager of the Tigers, has also been named manager of the season.

Jorge Grant of Lincoln City and Oxford United's Rob Atkinson are also named in the end-of-season XI.

Peterborough striker Clarke-Harris has been named League One's player of the season, seeing off competition from Hull midfielder Honeyman and Sunderland striker Wyke.

Clarke-Harris has scored 29 league goals this season to fire the Posh to the cusp of promotion.

According to the EFL, the award winners and the team of the season were decided by an expert judging panel earlier this month.
