Ian Evatt’s side broke the deadlock after just two minutes. A ball through from Josh Bowler just about found its way through to Danny Imray on the right side, leaving the wing-back free to make the most of some space in the box and fire a shot across the face of goal into the bottom corner to beat Cameron Dawson.
The Millers had a bit of fortune of their own as they searched for an immediate equaliser, but couldn’t make the most of a golden opportunity.
A ball into the box was completely missed by James Husband - who would’ve been relieved to see Jordan Hugill snatch at the chance to leave Bailey Peacock-Farrell with a simple save.
After assisting one, Bowler almost had a goal of his own inside the opening exchanges. Some quick feet from the attacking midfielder worked him into a shooting position on the edge of the box, but Dawson was equal to his effort.
It wasn’t long after that the Seasiders did have their second of the evening.
A pass from Ashley Fletcher to Tom Bloxham was just behind the striker, but this ultimately worked in his favour, with his slight touch towards goal from close-range catching everyone off guard.
A number of half chances fell Rotherham’s way, but they couldn’t quite make the most of them. A scuffed Kian Spence half volley was evident of that, as Peacock-Farrell collected the effort with ease.
Hamish Douglas had the home side’s best chance just before the break, with the defender striking the post.
Following the restart, substitute Marvin Kaleta also hit the woodwork, but his effort was helped off target by the Blackpool keeper’s fingertips.
After a period of soaking up from pressure, the visitors almost hit the Millers on the break again, with Dawson denying Bowler for a second time.
Peacock-Farrell continued to be tested until the end, but the Birmingham City figure remained firm, and made another impressive stop to push away an attempt from distance from Spence.
As the game entered its closing stages, Fletcher added the Seasiders’ third. Some great work from substitute to win the ball back and slide the ball to his teammate, saw the club’s top scorer this term handed an easy finish for his 11th goal of the season.
