Ravaged by injury and illness, Michael Appleton’s side took the Hatters all the way and arguably deserved at least a point for their efforts.
But it wasn’t to be as the Seasiders slumped to a second defeat in the space of just five days.
Here’s how Pool’s players rated...
1. Chris Maxwell - 6/10
Not much he could do about Luton’s goal but didn’t have a great deal else to cope with in terms of shot stopping. Could have commanded his area better though. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley
2. MAN OF THE MATCH: Callum Connolly - 7/10
Somehow managed to get through the full 90 once again despite taking an early knock. Gave it everything he had. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley
3. Marvin Ekpiteta - 6/10
Made some magnificent last-ditch blocks, but also put his side under pressure with some sloppy passes out from the back. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley
4. Jordan Thorniley - 6/10
Forced off through injury seconds after making a vital headed block. Luton then took the lead from the resulting corner. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley
5. James Husband - 6/10
A typical display from the defender really. Relatively solid throughout and showed his versatility by shifting over to centre-back. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley
6. Charlie Patino - 6/10
Only lasted 45 minutes through illness, but was the only calming influence in the first-half and the player capable of producing any sort of quality. Lacked energy though. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
