Benik Afobe’s second-half effort was enough for the home side to claim the three points in a game of little quality in the capital.
The Seasiders were improved from their horror show at Rotherham in midweek but it still wasn’t enough to avoid a second successive defeat.
Here’s how Blackpool’s players rated:

7. Kenny Dougall - 6/10
Better than Wednesday night and at least showed a willingness to get on the ball. Volleyed over with a shot from the edge of the box. Photo: CameraSport - David Horton

8. MAN OF THE MATCH: Charlie Patino - 8/10
A clinical finish for his first goal in tangerine. Brought calmness on the ball and constantly aware of what’s going on around him. Photo: CameraSport - David Horton

9. Theo Corbeanu - 7/10
Put a headband on him and he plays like Josh Bowler. Coincidence? Pool’s only attacking threat at times but decision-making wasn’t always there. Photo: CameraSport - David Horton

10. Shayne Lavery - 5/10
Poked wide at full stretch in the first-half but otherwise struggled to make an impact. Lost the ball too often even when he tried to do the right thing. Photo: CameraSport - David Horton

11. Jerry Yates - 7/10
Held the ball up and linked the play. Showed unselfishness for Patino’s goal as well. Surprised he was subbed off. Photo: CameraSport - David Horton

12. SUB: Jordan Gabriel - 6/10
For Connolly, 71 Provided fresh legs down the right but we didn’t see him get on the ball a great deal in the final stages. Photo: CameraSport - Lee Parker
