The Seasiders snapped up the right-back on a permanent deal from the Championship outfit last month after he impressed in their two FA Cup ties.

The 21-year-old penned a two-year deal with the Seasiders with the club holding the option to extend by a further 12 months.

“It was all quite quick to be fair,” Howe said of the move.

“It was after the Reading games that I got interest and the manager (Simon Grayson) contacted Reading about me.

“It all got sorted quite quickly from that point and now I’m here.

“It was quite mad, I didn’t expect it to happen as quickly as it did. But it was a quick turnaround and now I’m buzzing to be here.

“It was from the performances against Blackpool in the FA Cup, where I showed them what I could do.

“The manager here liked it and he wanted to bring me in to help boost the team, which is what I want to do.

“It’s a great team here and it’s a great place to be in terms of the stadium, where I’ve obviously already played so I know what it’s like.

“It’s good that I already know what it’s about and I think I’ve settled in quite well.

“I knew some of the lads already having played against them in Under-23 games, so they recognised me.

“I left one in on James Husband in the FA Cup game when he went down in the box for a penalty shout. But we had a bit of banter about it, so it’s all good.”

Howe, an unused substitute for the 2-1 defeat at Oxford United last week, joins the Seasiders at a time when the team are severely lacking in confidence.

Pool have slumped to 15th in the League One table, 13 points off the play-offs, following an alarming run of 10 games without a win in all competitions.

“Everyone goes through a dip at some stage, but once we get that win I think performances will start to show,” Howe added.

“I want to get in the team as soon as I can just to showcase what I can do. I just want to help the team to progress up the table.

“We had a little talk about Southend, but obviously I’ve not seen much about them as I’ve been in the Championship. But what I’ve heard is that they’re a team at the bottom but they’re fighting to get back up the table.

“Last time I came here for the FA Cup game the crowd was good. I’m just looking forward to seeing it again and for the supporters to get behind us to help push us back up the table.”
