The 23-year-old has been on trial with the Boundary Park club in recent weeks and has appeared in the club's pre-season friendlies.

Garrity joined from non-league side Warrington Town in January, but has yet to make a competitive appearance.

The midfielder makes the drop down to League Two in search of regular football, something head coach Neil Critchley will help aid his development.

"Hopefully he does well for himself," Critchley told The Gazette.

“It’s something me and Ben have discussed (going out and getting regular game time).

“Since I first stepped foot in the building he really impressed me. I put him on the bench in both of my games last season because his attitude in training was infectious.

“What he’s got to do now - it’s a big jump from Warrington Town to League One - is keep playing games to develop.

“He wants to do that, but I can’t guarantee that here at Blackpool at the moment, so the next progression for him at the moment is the next bridge in between.”

Garrity's departure means Blackpool now have 20 senior players on their books, two below the limit of 22.

However Jamie Devitt, who hasn't been given a squad number for next season, won't be counted if he's not named in the club's squad list, meaning Pool actually have 19 senior players.

The Seasiders still have until October 16 to complete any further business.
