Transfer gossip: Blackpool exploring deal with Luton Town for fan favourite
Blackpool have been linked with a move for Jerry Yates.
Blackpool are reportedly lining up a move for fan favourite Jerry Yates.
According to Pete O’Rourke, the Seasiders are currently in talks with Luton Town over a loan deal for the forward.
The Fylde Coast outfit are said to be among six clubs interested in the out-of-favour Hatters man, with a decision set to be made by the 29-year-old imminently.
Despite only making the move to Kenilworth Road last summer, this will mark Yates’ second temporary move away from Bedfordshire, having spent the second half of last season with Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.
While things haven’t worked out at Luton, the ex-Blackpool man will always have a firm place in the hearts of the Seasiders faithful.
Having made the move to Bloomfield Road from Rotherham United in 2020, he became a popular figure in Tangerine, scoring 46 goals in 139 games during a three-year spell, and was part of the club’s last promotion-winning team.
On paper, the Seasiders are pretty well stocked in the attacking department, but current injuries to Dale Taylor and Niall Ennis does make the strike-force an area of concern with less than a week remaining of the transfer window.
Dion Charles and Tom Bloxham both started the last league game for Ian Evatt’s side, with Kylian Kouassi and CJ Hamilton currently seen as the back-ups.
