Blackpool FC boss makes preparation admission ahead of Lincoln City cup test

Blackpool take on Lincoln City in the second round of the EFL Cup this evening.

Blackpool will search for a balance of being competitive and handing out minutes in their EFL Cup second round clash against Lincoln City.

The Seasiders welcome the Imps to Bloomfield Road this evening, as they look to build on their unbeaten start to the season.

Since starting the 2026/27 campaign with a 3-1 victory away to Grimsby Town in the cup, Ian Evatt’s side have picked up four points from their opening two League One outings.

A number of players have been building up their fitness in the last few weeks after a disrupted pre-season, while others have had their game time managed.

The meeting with Lincoln could see some rotation, with an early kick off against Peterborough United swiftly coming up on Saturday.

When asked if he was going to hand out minutes to other players after Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Stockport County, Evatt responded: “We’re going to need to because at the moment we’re still at the stage of getting people up to speed.

“There’s still people carrying niggles and knocks, and today (against Stockport) was an incredibly physically demanding game.

“We’ll see how everyone recovers. Our bread and butter is the league, but we want to be competitive in every game we play - and that will never change for me.”
