Blackpool injury situation reiterated ahead of extended break from League One action
Blackpool are expecting several players to be back available following the international break.
Blackpool assistant coach Stephen Crainey believes a boost will come naturally for the Seasiders when several absentees become available again.
Ian Evatt’s side have endured a dip in form over the last few weeks, which has left them 15th in League One at the first international break.
After starting the season with seven points from their opening three games, the Seasiders have gone winless in their last five outings in all competitions.
Like most of the 2025/26 campaign, the Fylde Coast outfit have been forced to navigate several injuries.
Dale Taylor has missed the entirety of the season so far, while Niall Ennis picked up a hamstring problem in the first round of the Carabao Cup on the opening weekend.
Meanwhile, Hayden Coulson and George Honeyman have both sat out the last few weeks due to their own respective issues.
All four are expected to be back in and around the squad for the resumption of League One action away to Cambridge United on October 10.
CJ Hamilton is out longer-term due to a knee injury, while there’s no return date set for either Fraser Horsfall or Michael Ihiekwe as they battle their back from surgery.
“They’re still a little bit away,” Crainey said.
“It would be nice to have them back, but that’s not the case. We’re going to have hopefully four players back for the Cambridge game, which will be a huge boost to us.
“We’ll never use injuries as an excuse, but it’s nice for a staff to have a full squad available.
“Getting four important players fit again for the Cambridge game is going to be big for us.”
