Blackpool keeper Chris Maxwell admits: The penny has to drop

The Seasiders did well to battle back after finding themselves 2-0 down inside 12 minutes, Charles Wood opening the scoring for the Bantams before the same player doubled their lead.

James Harrison pulled a goal back for Blackpool after meeting a cross from Rop Apter, who was the star of the show for Danny Ventre's side.

The young Seasiders were soon back level, Brad Holmes the player to net their equaliser - the assist again coming from Apter.

Unfortunately the hosts weren't able to hold on, Connor Morris winning the tie late on for Bradford finishing from a tight angle.

Blackpool thought they had drawn level for a second time when Perez Goumou headed past the Bradford keeper, only for the goal to be ruled out after the referee spotted a foul.

It meant there would be no cup run for Ventre's side, who played some high-tempo, high-intensity and slick football throughout.

Blackpool: McLachlan, Goumou, Hill (Squires), Fitzgerald, Wyllie (Yelegon), Liptrott, Trusty, Apter, Rogers (Matshazi), Harrison, Holmes.

Subs not used: Strawn, Muscatelli, Tshola
