Blackpool keeper insists League One table doesn’t reflect the Seasiders’ quality

Chris Maxwell says the League One table gives a false impression of the ability within the Blackpool squad.

The Seasiders’ recent form has seen them slump to 15th in the division, 13 points off the play-offs.

But Maxwell, whose new side are now closer to the relegation zone than the top six, believes that doesn’t paint the full picture.

“I have to say the table doesn’t represent the quality we have in this squad,” the goalkeeper said.

“I’ve only seen a few of these new players for a couple of days and the others for 10 days or so now.

“But there’s a talented group here, there’s an experienced group here as well, so I’ve got absolutely no worries about what this group can do. We’ll be fine and we’ll be competing towards the top end.

“Pushing towards the play-offs is what the club wants to do, it’s what the manager wants to do and it’s what the players want to do.

“Everybody wants to be in the play-offs come the end of the season and looking beyond that, so there’s no reason we can’t do it.”

Maxwell made his debut for the Seasiders in last week’s 2-1 defeat against Oxford United.
