The 40-year-old is preparing to take charge of his fourth game as Pool’s interim boss when they welcome Ipswich Town to Bloomfield Road this afternoon.

The former Blackburn Rovers star claimed his first win in midweek in the dramatic 2-1 win against rivals Bolton Wanderers, having previously overseen a draw and a defeat.

When asked if he’s got any mentors that he goes to for advice, Dunn replied: “I’ve got a couple.

“During my career I’ve had some excellent managers and I’ve had some excellent coaches who have all gone on to be pretty successful. I would call and ask for advice and see if they can give me any help.

“I was with Sean Dyche the other night who has always been excellent with me since I’ve been on this side of the line. Tony Mowbray is another one.

“I feel you can always call managers and they want to help you. If you’re a good person then I think others are more likely to help and want you to do well.

“Rob Kelly is another, he’s over in Dusseldorf at the minute with Uwe Rosler. He’s certainly another one I lean on for advice.

“It all helps, we’re all learning but the big thing is I want to learn.”

The Seasiders take on a faltering Ipswich side today that has fallen out of the automatic promotion picture in recent weeks.

It follows a run of four defeats in six for Paul Lambert’s players, who have subsequently slipped down to ninth place in the League One table.

While the Tractor Boys aren’t in the best of form at the minute, Dunn is still expecting a tough challenge against a side managed by another of his former colleagues.

“I know Paul Lambert well, he employed me when I was the Under-23s coach at Blackburn when he was the manager,” Dunn said.

“I know they will be a good team, they will be well organised and they will want to play with a high tempo.

“We’ve got to match them for that and then hopefully we’ve prepared in the right way so we can go toe-to-toe with them and have a really good game.”

Top goalscorer Armand Gnanduillet has been ruled out once again with a hamstring injury having missed Pool’s last two games.

Ipswich’s top scorers Kayden Jackson (suspension) and James Norwood (injury), meanwhile, will also be missing.
