Blackpool head to Doncaster looking to pick up sixth consecutive win - something they've not done in 13 years

Saturday's magnificent 2-1 victory against Peterborough United, who were top of the league prior to the game, extended Blackpool's winning run to five.

Prior to that, Neil Critchley's men had seen off Burton Albion and Wigan Athletic in league action.

The Seasiders then secured their passage through to the second round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win against National League South side Eastbourne Borough.

That was followed up by another 3-0 win in the EFL Trophy, the victory against Leeds United's Under-21 side sealing qualification through to the knockout stage.

Blackpool's current winning streak is the first time they've won five games on the bounce since November 2018.

But you have to go all the way back to 2007 for the last time the Seasiders claimed six straight wins, something Critchley's side will be aiming to do against Doncaster tomorrow.

Scunthorpe United were the victims on that occasion, as goals from Claus Jorgensen, Keigan Parker and Shaun Barker sealed a 3-1 win on April 28, 2007.

The victory, part of Blackpool's memorable 'Perfect 10' run which ended in promotion, was played out in front of a crowd of 9,482 at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool even ended the game with 10 men when Chris Brandon was shown a straight red.

Despite Scunthorpe's defeat, they were still crowned champions on the day.

Before the game kicked off, the Seasiders paid tribute to former player and manager Alan Ball, who had died three days earlier.
