The reward for Critchley’s players after beating West Bromwich Albion on penalties at Bloomfield Road last weekend is a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion a week on Saturday, January 23.

Should they cause another upset against Graham Potter’s side, the Seasiders will then face either Brentford or Leicester City in another away tie.

“You can look at it two ways. You want to be at home to give yourself a really good chance of getting through or playing a Premier League team away, which we got,” Critchley told The Gazette.

“Brighton are a Premier League team with a Premier League level stadium and pitch, so it’s a really good game for us to look forward to.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game because they’ve got really good players and they’re playing at home, which gives them an advantage as well.

“We’ve shown against West Brom that we can compete.

“We’ll have to produce a similar level of performance but we have nothing to lose.
