Members of the Muckers Supporters Group (MSG) have collected a number of food and drink items and will be dropping them off at the Winter Gardens.

A number of other supporters have also made cash donations.

It’s part of an initiative between Blackpool’s Business Improvement District (BID), Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Blue Skies Hospital Fund and the Winter Gardens.

Mike Simmons, of BID, said: “Whilst we appreciate many individuals will be keen to help and smaller donations will be welcome, this scheme will allow large donations such as bottled water, bottled or canned drinks, toiletries, soaps, soap powder and fabric conditioner, shampoo, toothpaste, hand lotion, biscuits, energy bars, microwaveable food or pot noodle types, and little treats for the staff to enjoy whilst on their well-earned breaks.

“In these unprecedented times we are seeing more than ever people coming together and helping each other and Blackpool BID are happy to be helping to coordinate this.”

The MSG, through their Twitter account, encouraged as many people as possible to lend their support.

They said: “Everyone who has said, rightly so as well, that our NHS staff are doing an amazing job in this crisis could you please help if you possibly can.

“We will be dropping some things off from ourselves at some point.

“The NHS has helped a lot of our lads and all their families in the past and more recently, so it’s the least we can do to help them out.

“These are the people that are helping grandparents, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters.

“Please help if you can and we will arrange a pick up with our lads that are in key working jobs as not to break the government advice.”

To be able to drop off any items, you will need to call 01253 629748 at least 30 minutes before your intended drop off time and advise what you will be donating.

If you are unable to make a drop-off but have a substantial donation, BID are also in the process of setting up a network of drivers to coordinate pick-ups.

“We will of course respect everyone’s personal space and have a safe and coordinated plan with the Blue Skies team when we deliver to the Hospital,” Mike Simmons added.

If you can offer any help or you have any donations, email [email protected] or call 07565 236810.

Any cash donations should be facilitated through Blue Skies hospitals fund directly.
