Blackpool duo celebrate promotion with loan clubs Plymouth and Crewe following today's EFL vote

Hardie joined Plymouth Argyle during the January transfer window while Nottingham made the move to Crewe Alexandra.

Following today’s EFL vote, it’s been confirmed that both sides have finished in the automatic promotion spots in League Two.

Hardie made an impressive start to life at Home Park, scoring in his first three games - with all of those coming off the bench.

He scored seven times in 13 appearances in total before the campaign was ended prematurely due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The 23-year-old, a summer signing from Rangers, left the Seasiders on loan having failed to force his way into Blackpool’s first-team - scoring just once in 12 games.

Nottingham, meanwhile, helped Crewe into the third tier during his 13 appearances with the Railwaymen.

The defender, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been strongly linked with a permanent move to Gresty Road.

Hardie and Nottingham aren’t the only two with a Blackpool connection to be celebrating today.

Curtis Tilt, Clark Robertson and Kyle Vassell are part of a Rotherham United squad that have been promoted to the Championship.

Elsewhere, Richie Wellens, a former Pool midfielder, has guided his Swindon Town side to the League Two title and will now face the Seasiders next season.

All eyes now turn to the National League and Ian Evatt’s Barrow side, who are waiting to discover if they will seal a long-awaited return to the Football League.

The Cumbrians currently sit top of the table, four points ahead of Harrogate Town, but the League have yet to make an announcement on how league positions will be decided after they decided to suspend the campaign.

It comes after clubs in League One and League Two voted overwhelmingly in favour of curtailing the 2019/20 season.

It follows a meeting between EFL sides today, during which it was agreed to keep promotion, relegation and play-offs.

Peteroborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealed 19 clubs voted to curtail the season, with just four wanting to play on.

The league table will now be decided by the unweighted points-per-game method, which will see Blackpool finish in 13th place.

Fleetwood Town, who have already returned to training, will finish in sixth but more crucially, inside the play-off spots.

Joey Barton’s men will take on Wycombe Wanderers over a two-legged semi-final while Oxford United will face Portsmouth in the other tie.

The dates for the play-off games will be confirmed in due course.

Coventry City and Rotherham United have been automatically promoted to the Championship while Southend United, Bolton Wanderers and Tranmere Rovers have been relegated to League Two.

League Two clubs also voted in favour of curtailing the season, meaning Swindon finish the campaign as champions.

Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle are also promoted to the third tier, while Cheltenham Town, Exeter City, Colchester United and Northampton Town will battle it out in the play-offs.

Stevenage will be relegated to the National League although they could be replaced by Macclesfield Town, who are the subject of a misconduct charge over their failure to pay its players.

Clubs in the Championship are due to play on, with fixtures set to resume from June 20.
